Schools Programme

One of Hope's most valued ways of raising awareness of the terrible plight of the street children is through our involvement with schools. It is a great opportunity for British students to experience “children helping children”.

We believe that all children and young people everywhere deserve a chance. Education is one of the tools that can give them a chance to escape poverty, to enjoy better health and a longer life, to have a decent standard of living, to live free from exploitation and a chance to have fun. Hope, working with Indian NGO partners, now funds over 60 projects working for street children and their community in the areas of education, healthcare, shelter, nutrition and counselling. Would your school like to help or find out more?

Schools A representative of Hope is available to come and visit your school. They can give a talk to pupils, show a short film and answer your questions about the work of Hope.

To set up a visit call or email info@thehopefoundation.org.uk.

Here are two examples of schools who have supported us this year.

Rye Factor Charity Event October 2009
Rye Factor Charity Event The Rye Factor was held on the 20th October at Rye and raised just over £500 for Hope UK. The Sixth Form organised and led the event under the supervision of the Head of Sixth Form. Both teachers and pupils were involved in the show which was Rye’s own interpretation of the X Factor. The idea for Rye Factor was to show off talent in the school rather than have an open competition and of course raise money and awareness of the work of Hope UK.

There was a panel of judges made up of teachers and sixth form to comment on the acts and performances were given from pupils aged 10-18 as well as from staff. The turnout was fantastic and spectators were hugely appreciative and supportive of the various acts. The show was around 2 hours long with an interval in the middle where guests could buy drinks and sweets. The whole night was great fun and was very valuable in not only raising money for Hope but also in raising awareness for the charity and its cause as we had a short presentation before the show to tell the audience precisely where their money would be going and how it was going to benefit the children.

Overall the night was a very enjoyable experience for all involved and went down a storm amongst pupils.

Ynyscynon Early Years Centre
Ynyscynon Early Years Centre We were very happy this year to support Hope with our proceeds from our harvest raffle.

The Hope charity works effectively with children who live very difficult and hopeless lives. It is such a contrast to the hopeful lives our children live.

Our children are very young but they could empathise and understand something of the harsh lives these children lead. Therefore not only have we been able to offer a small amount of hope to these children but we have learnt more about the world we live in.

All the best we will hopefully be in touch in the future.
