Vocational Training – a chance to earn a living
Our newly built Vocational Training Institute is a skills centre for young women who are at risk of working in the sex trade. The centre provides employment opportunities and chances to generate income, so they can earn a living. Self-help groups are set up, supported by micro-credit arrangements.
The main trades taught are IT, Knitting, Tailoring, Embroidery, Bakery, Catering, Beautician Skills and Photography.
The aim of the centre is to give young people a decent training, leading to a job with a reasonable salary. We have also set up a rehabilitation programme for older sex workers to give them the skills to go into a recognised trade and so withdraw from the streets.
