There are over 250,000 children living on the streets of Kolkata. This is where they are born, where they try to survive and in many cases where they die – unless they are offered a real chance of change. The streets offer little protection and dangerous predators abuse these vulnerable children emotionally, physically, mentally, economically and sexually – as graphically portrayed in the film Slumdog Millionaire.
Hope’s goal is to protect these children from abuse and to give them a chance of a better life, by providing access to an education, medical services and protection homes where necessary.
Your donations go directly to projects working with these children and their families, e.g. our educational coaching centres and crèches, our residential homes, our mobile clinics and Hope Hospital.
