Renowned yoga teacher, author and Patron of The Hope Foundation, Simon Low, has been featured in the latest edition of Spectrum magazine, published by the British Wheel of Yoga.
In the inspiring interview, Simon shares how a visit to Kolkata more than 15 years ago profoundly shaped his understanding of karma yoga and led to a long-standing relationship with HOPE. He reflects on witnessing first-hand the challenges faced by street-connected children and families, and why HOPE’s holistic approach to education, healthcare and child protection resonated so deeply with him.
The article also explores the origins of the Yoga Garden Party, which Simon founded in 2011 to bring the yoga community together in support of vulnerable children in Kolkata. Since then, the event has raised more than £100,000 for HOPE, thanks to the generosity of teachers, volunteers and participants.
Simon also discusses the role of yoga within HOPE’s programmes, highlighting how practices that promote wellbeing, confidence and emotional resilience can support children on their journeys towards brighter futures.
This year marks a particularly special milestone as HOPE prepares to host the 10th Yoga Garden Party on Saturday 1 August 2026 at Castle Ashby, Northamptonshire. The event will bring together more than 22 renowned teachers for a day of yoga, meditation, movement, music and wellbeing, all in support of street-connected children and families in Kolkata.
